Why results are estimates

Every result depends entirely on the numbers you enter — your own distance, fuel used and fuel price. Actual fuel prices and real-world fuel averages vary by vehicle, by region and over time, so the same inputs can produce a slightly different real-world outcome from one fill-up to the next. Treat every result as a close, well-calculated estimate rather than an exact figure, and don't rely on it 100%.

What moves your actual consumption

Driving style has the largest effect — hard acceleration and high motorway speeds can change consumption by a large margin against gentle driving on the same route. Beyond that: vehicle load and passengers, roof racks and towing, tyre pressure, terrain and elevation change, ambient temperature, air-conditioning use, traffic and idling, fuel grade, and engine condition all play a part.

Fuel prices

Default fuel prices shown on country pages are indicative starting values only, with the month they were last reviewed. Most countries revise fuel prices daily, fortnightly or monthly, so treat the default as a placeholder and enter the rate from your own receipt for an accurate result.
